Play Time is an interactive game show series where audience members create art together while competing as teams for prizes and bragging rights. Play Time was developed to pay homage to the vast contributions made by artists and creatives from the African Diaspora and to create space for our communities to play and learn at the same time. Through mediums of music, dance, storytelling, visual art, improv and movement, Play Time audiences participate in team challenges, trivia questions, art games, and community art projects while learning the history and stories of ancestral and living artists.

Facilitated by the show’s creators, Merri Ann Osborne and Chino Gonzales, Play Time audience members join teams and work together in friendly efforts to “win” at a variety of activities. An intergenerational and multigenerational experience, Play Time acknowledges that everyone has something to offer no matter their age or background, and by working together, art is created that is new, fresh and rewarding for everyone involved.

The secret sauce of Play Time is the joyful laughter of audiences, the ‘I’ll give it a try’ attitude and the support they provide to each other - team mate or not -  during the game. Episodes of Play Time are created specifically for the audience in attendance. With diverse audiences and unique locations, each Play Time experience is one of a kind!
